Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B in a signature mix. From Broadway to European music festivals and clubs the singer has done work across the globe. Sunshine was born Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing the piano and singing in the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. The debut song featuring her voice was called Stalk You which was a song from Japan's house 12; since then it has been re-mixed and is now component of her set. She has also contributed her voice for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. In 2005 she was hired as the lead keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning performer) approached her for the position of choral conductor of Dreamgirls in Atlanta for the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine became the focus of attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
